An Image, an Action, a Word for World Mission Day 2026

1. A Spiritual Image
The spiritual image that emerges from the Pope’s message is that of the branches united to the vine, presented by Jesus in the Gospel of John.
Just as the branches receive from the vine the sap they need to live and bear fruit, so Christians are called to remain united to Christ.
From this union with Christ also comes communion among believers, enabling the Church to be a true family. Only by remaining united to Christ can we truly be united with one another and bear fruit in mission.
2. A Missionary Action
The missionary action proposed by the Pope is that of working together in proclaiming the Gospel.
Every baptized person, according to his or her vocation and gifts, is called to participate in the mission of the Church.
Being missionaries means praying, bearing witness through one’s life, helping the missions concretely, and supporting those who proclaim the Gospel in the most difficult places.
Mission thus becomes a shared and collaborative action, in which different people and communities bring together their charisms to make the love of Christ visible.
3. A Word to Proclaim
From the Pope’s message, the central word to proclaim is divine love, fully manifested in the face and life of Jesus Christ.
The Pope reminds us that the Gospel is not an abstract idea, but Good News capable of concretely transforming people’s lives.
Every Christian is called to make known that Christ is the light who saves and that God’s love is stronger than every barrier.
